If you’ve decided to take your child’s curriculum into your own hands – congratulations! The advantages of homeschooling are many, and one of those advantages is the option to create a flexible schedule (something that would not be possible if your child attended regular public school). To help create a schedule that works for you and your child, we offer a Homeschool Schedule Template, with 6-day and 7-day schedule worksheets at 30 minute intervals.

Template Contents

Below are the worksheets included in this template.

6 Days

A 6-day homeschool schedule worksheet with pre-populated homeschool schedule examples. This is a 12-hour schedule at 30-minute intervals.

7 Days

A 7-day homeschool schedule worksheet with pre-populated homeschool schedule examples. This is a 12-hour schedule at 30-minute intervals.

Using the Template

Personalize and Print

Make your new homeschool schedule feel like home by taking a second to add your own schedule title. The first row in each worksheet comes with the standard title “HOMESCHOOLING SCHEDULE.” Click into the cell containing the old title and type in your new one.

If you prefer to write your schedule by hand, the old-fashioned way, delete the pre-populated examples, and simply hit print – our worksheets are already set up to fit on one page for printing.

General Use

If you’d like to start scheduling from scratch, highlight all cells with any pre-populated data and hit “Delete” on your keyboard.

To clear any pre-existing formats, such as background color, highlight all cells, go to the “Home” menu. Then, select the “Fill Color” tool and choose “No Fill.”

Tip: You can also use the “Format Painter” tool to copy formats from other cells to overwrite any cells with a format you don’t want.

You may also choose to follow the pre-populated schedule and modify it as needed. To make modifications, simply overwrite any cell with your own activity. To save time, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the activity into other days and time slots, where applicable.

Freeze Panes

By the time you scroll down to 4:00pm you don’t know what day it is because the column headers have disappeared. To avoid this issue, you can freeze the column headers so that they remain on your screen no matter how far down you scroll.

Note: To freeze panes you must be in either “Normal” or “Page Break” view, not “Page Layout” view.

Next, click into the cell below the top row with dates, and go to the “View” menu. Select “Freeze Panes” and select the 1st Freeze Panes option.

Historical Records and New Schedules

What did you cover last week? Now you don’t have to worry about forgetting!. Save last week’s schedule in the same file to develop historical records of your lesson plans. Simply add a new worksheet to start the next weekly schedule, or add a new page in an existing worksheet.

Here are the 2 different ways to do this:

Option 1: Create a new worksheet for each new schedule.

Right-click on your preferred worksheet schedule and select “Move or Copy,” check the box for “Create a copy,” and click “OK.”

Finally, click on the new worksheet and rename it as you’d like.

Note: The benefit of creating new worksheets is that you won’t have to scroll down or across many weeks of previous schedules.

Option 2: Add a new page in an existing worksheet for each new schedule.

If, for example, you’d like to organize your scheduling data by month, it makes sense to add a new page in an existing worksheet (and label that worksheet with the current month).

First, make sure you are in “Page-Layout” view.

page layout view

Highlight the schedule table and copy it (Ctrl+V). Next, scroll down or across and paste the schedule table on the new page.

Note: When pasting the daily schedule onto a new page in the same worksheet, the page may combine with the previous page. To fix this, insert a “Page Break” to separate the pages.

Extracurricular Activities

We don’t have to stop learning at 4:00pm! If there’s room for exercise or games, before or after dinner, you can add that to the schedule as well. To add extra time intervals to the homeschool schedule, copy the final row, right-click below the final row, and select “Insert” from the pop up menu to insert as many rows as needed. The time column is formula driven, and should update automatically when new rows are inserted.

Note: New rows can also be added at the beginning of the schedule to start the day earlier.

Add Dates

This template does not have a date category, but you can add your own! Insert a row above the row that contains time and days of the week. Right-click on the row and select “Insert” from the pop up menu.

Next, type in dates across the top. Or, you can automate this – type in the 1st date and then reference that cell plus “1” (e.g. “=B3+1). Finally, copy this formula across the top to display remaining dates.

Change Color Scheme

If lime green isn’t your thing, you can change the color scheme of this template to something that appeals to you. To add or change color – highlight all relevant cells and use the “Fill Color” tool to change the background color. To change text color, repeat these steps and use the “Font Color” tool.

Example. We like a nice blue and yellow color scheme.
