What’s so cool about narrow ruled lined paper? This type of lined paper allows the writer to fit more words on a single page because, at just .25 inches between lines, the horizontal lines are spaced more closely together. This way, you can write smaller and need less paper. To help maximize your notebook space, we offer narrow ruled paper in various line color and paper sizes.

Using Narrow Ruled Paper
Choose a Paper Size
To use our Narrow Ruled Paper Template, simply select your preferred paper size and line color and hit print! Our lined paper template comes in US and European paper sizes. For example, A5 (the standard European paper size) and A4 paper sizes are part of an international standard range of paper sizes called the ISO 216. This system has convenient scalability because its paper sizes are based on an aspect ratio of the square root of 2. Lastly, on the other side of the pond, we have the US letter and Legal paper sizes, which are accepted as standard paper sizes in the United States and many US territories.
General Use
There are many ways to use narrow ruled lined paper. Ideas include:
- Take longer notes by writing smaller.
- Teach children the lost art of cursive writing.
- Draw tables, charts, graphs, and diagrams to express ideas.
- Practice the writing of musical notation symbols.
- Doodle.
- Create your own fountain pen friendly notebook.
- Write mathematical equations.
- Create a notebook - print out the lined paper, punch holes in the paper and put the pages in a 3-ring binder, or pin the pages to a clipboard.
And, perhaps most importantly, we recommend using a blank lined sheet as a guide, to help craft the perfect paper airplane!

Narrow Ruled Notebooks vs Other
There are many types of ruled paper notebooks, and each type has a different use. For example, wide ruled paper notebooks are ideal for those with larger handwriting or for grade school students learning to write. College ruled paper is slightly wider than narrow ruled. College ruled paper is the traditional type of ruled paper used in high school and college.
So where does narrow ruled paper fit in? Narrow ruled paper notebooks are ideal for the maximizer who wants to squeeze in as many words as possible in between tightly spaced horizontal lines. Other types of ruled paper generally have a margin line to promote indentation and neatness. The type of narrow ruled paper offered in this printable does not have a margin line, which provides even more space for the writer to fill up the page.
